Alanzo Smith

Alanzo Smith was a dedicated and much-loved mental health worker at the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. Having migrated from Jamaica at the age of 14, he had worked for the trust for 22 years. Described as “widely known and much loved across BEH, both in his role as an associate mental health worker and also as a local trade union steward for Unison”, he passed away on Sunday 10 May 2020.

Dr Erwin Spannagl

Dr Erwin Spannagl was an experienced surgeon who worked in London’s Northwick Park hospital for a decade. He passed away on Sunday 29 March 2020 after contracting COVID-19.

Mark Stanley

Mark Stanley was paramedic who had dedicated over 30 years of his life to his work, having previously done military service in the Life Guards. Described as a fitness fanatic who was 100% dedicated to his wife and two children, his legacy will live on through the hundreds of paramedics he trained in West Yorkshire. He passed away on Thursday 30 April 2020.

Stephanie Wilcocks

Stephanie Wilcocks retired in 2005 having worked as a matron and ward sister at both Watford and St Albans hospitals. A nurse mentor, the “much-loved” care home nurse died with coronavirus just days after the birth of her granddaughter.

Jermaine Wright was a kind, generous and thoughtful senior NHS Pharmacy Technician who took extreme pride in his work. He was also a well-known figure on the local football circuit where he was a level 7 referee amongst other roles. Described as an ‘extraordinary human being’, he passed away on Monday 27 April 2020.

Larni Zuniga

Larni Zuniga was a senior care home nurse at CHD Living’s Surrey Hills care home. The father-of-three was originally from the the Philippines, and made the difficult decision to leave his wife and children to start a nursing career in the UK 12 years ago.

John Alagos

Originally from the Philippines John Alagos worked for the West Hertfordshire NHS Trust in Ridge Ward at Watford General Hospital and is believed to have contracted COVID-19 while working. He died on Friday 3 April at the age of 23, after working a 12 hours shift caring for those sick with the virus.

Dr Abdel Babiker

Dr Abdel Wahab Babiker was an “extremely energetic, hard-working, approachable and dedicated” consultant physician at Scarborough Hospital. Remembered for his ‘can-do’ attitude and supportive nature, he passed away on Monday 18 May 2020. Our thoughts are with his family. We will remember Dr Abdel Wahab Babiker.

Elvira Bucu

Elvira Bucu was a carer worker who came to the UK with her husband from the Philippines for a better life. She died on Friday 3 April 2020 from COVID-19 having devoted her life to looking after others.

Julianne Cadby

Julianne Cadby was a beloved wife and mother-of-one who worked as a Business Manager for Cardiff & Vale University Health Board's specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services. She died on Wednesday 15 April 2020 at her home after testing positive for COVID-19.

Herbert Chinzou

Herbert Chinzou was a Social Services Manager in London and died of COVID-19 on Sunday 19 April 2020 leaving behind a young family. He had been diagnosed with the virus weeks before.

Andy Collier

A nurse and union representative at Hollins Park Hospital in Warrington. Said to be fair and selfless, he was admitted to hospital on Tuesday 31 March 2020 and died on Wednesday 15 April 2020 having tested positive for COVID-19 at the age of 53.
